Instagram has rolled out a new AI powered feature called Your Algorithm that gives users more control over the types of videos that appear on the Reels tab. The update introduces a clean and simple interface that displays interest topics the system believes a user enjoys based on their past behavior, and each topic can be added or removed instantly. This makes feed adjustments far more accurate and better aligned with what users want to watch at the moment.
The platform explained that interests naturally change over time, so the goal is to offer an easier and more accessible way to manage recommendations. The AI system highlights the topics that currently influence your video suggestions, and users can refine that list right away. Instagram also allows users to share this personalized interest summary directly onto their Story, turning personal preferences into shareable content.

The feature begins rolling out starting today in the United States and will expand globally in English soon. Access is simple through the two heart icon on the top right corner of any Reel, which opens the full list of active interest topics currently shaping your feed.
Beyond Reels, Instagram plans to extend this customization system to the Explore tab and other sections of the app in the near future. Meanwhile, Meta is also building similar tools for Threads, allowing users to tell the algorithm if they want more or less of certain content using the tag dear algo. All of this reflects Meta’s broader direction toward giving users more control over what they see every time they open the app.
Meta is also preparing tools that let users explain why certain content in Reels or the Facebook Feed feels irrelevant. Additional feedback options and customization methods are expected over the next few months, all designed to help users train the algorithm with a higher degree of precision.
