There is no denying that Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2026. After facing multiple delays pushing its launch back from an earlier window to late 2026 expectations have only grown higher, especially considering that more than a decade has passed since the release of Grand Theft Auto V.
The good news is that fans may not have to wait much longer for fresh updates.
According to a recent report by IGN, publisher Take-Two Interactive confirmed in its shareholder newsletter following the company’s third-quarter earnings report that official marketing for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin in mid-2026, specifically during the summer period between June and August. This means new trailers, gameplay reveals, or promotional campaigns could start appearing around the middle of the year.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, also expressed strong confidence in the project and stated that the company feels very positive about sharing more information in the coming months.
Release Date and Platforms Remain Unchanged
As of now, the planned release date for Grand Theft Auto VI remains November 19, 2026, with no changes announced. The game is currently confirmed to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Despite ongoing speculation, a PC version has not yet been officially announced, which may disappoint some fans. However, industry insiders have frequently noted strong collaboration between Rockstar Games and Sony, particularly as the PlayStation 5 user base approaches the 100-million mark globally.
