Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy Opens Pre-Downloads on iOS and Android
Final Fantasy fans, the wait is almost over! Square Enix and NHN PlayArt have officially announced that pre-downloads for Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy are now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
This brand-new mobile entry in the Dissidia series introduces a 3v3 Team Boss Battle Arena format, bringing together legendary heroes from across the franchise for an entirely new combat experience. You can download the game right now to prepare your devices before the servers officially go live tomorrow, March 24th.
A New Combat Experience in Modern Tokyo
Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy shifts the franchise into a completely new setting. The story takes place in modern-day Tokyo, where giant crystals have suddenly appeared in the middle of the city, eventually blending into everyday life. The peace is broken when mysterious monsters begin corrupting the crystals with dark energy. In response, iconic Final Fantasy heroes manifest to protect the world. To keep their true identities hidden, the public refers to them as “Ghosts.”
The core gameplay loop revolves around hunting these monsters. Players must cleanse the dark energy to collect “Bravery.” Once enough Bravery is accumulated, you can unleash a devastating “Bravery Burst” ultimate attack to deal massive damage to giant bosses. The first team to take down the boss wins the match. Success relies heavily on speed, strategy, and tight coordination among the three team members.
To build the perfect team, characters are divided into 4 main roles:
- Ranged: Specializes in attacking from a distance.
- Melee: Excels in close-quarters combat.
- Support: Focuses on healing and buffing teammates.
- Agile: Relies on fast movement and high evasion.
The game also features full Japanese voice acting, stylish modern outfits for the classic characters, and a “Memoria” system—equippable items collected from other Final Fantasy titles to boost your stats. All of this is accompanied by newly arranged versions of the legendary original soundtracks.

To further elevate the game’s artistic identity, famous artists were brought in to design special character moves, including Raita Kazama (Ultimate Shield), Toshiyuki Itahana (Grand Lethal), necomi (Angel Wing), and Yoshitaka Amano (Minwu/Teleport).

Nomura Confirms “DUELLUM” is a New Challenge
Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura addressed the legacy of the Dissidia series, noting that DUELLUM serves as the 6th official installment of the franchise. He emphasized that this game represents a fresh challenge undertaken by a new generation of developers.
“We developed DUELLUM with the intention of creating something entirely new for players to experience,” Nomura stated. “We feel the game is now in a place where it is ready for everyone to try.” This release follows a highly successful Closed Beta Test held in the US and Canada in late 2025, which saw participation from around 20,000 players. With its unique modern setting and intense 3v3 action, Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is poised to revitalize the beloved spin-off series for a new era.
