PRAGMATA Switch 2 Performance Tested Frame Drops Despite Strong Visuals

PRAGMATA on Switch 2 Shows Strong Visual Ambition but Unstable Performance
Digital Foundry highlights impressive graphics efforts, but frame drops remain a concern.
PRAGMATA, one of CAPCOMโs major releases, has officially launched. The game is also available on Nintendo Switch 2. While some regions still need to wait a little longer, players in western markets already have access.
As expected, the game quickly reached Digital Foundry. The well-known tech analysis team tested the title. Their focus was on performance and graphical output across platforms.
A Visually Ambitious Port on Switch 2
According to Digital Foundry, PRAGMATA on Switch 2 is an ambitious port. The developers clearly pushed the hardware as far as possible.
In terms of visuals, the game still delivers a satisfying experience. Even when resolution drops in certain scenes, the artistic direction remains intact. The overall presentation does not feel compromised.
However, performance tells a different story. Frame rate fluctuations are noticeable. Players who are sensitive to stuttering may find this version difficult to enjoy.
DLSS Helps Visuals but Lighting Takes a Hit
The Switch 2 version uses DLSS technology. The game renders internally at up to 540p. It then upscales the image to 1080p.
This approach helps maintain visual clarity. However, some graphical elements are clearly reduced. Lighting quality is one of the biggest compromises.
Shadow detail is significantly downgraded. Ambient Occlusion is almost entirely absent. In darker environments, characters can appear flat. They lose depth and visual presence.
Frame Rate Swings Between 60FPS and 30FPS
Performance remains inconsistent throughout gameplay.
In enclosed areas or scenes with fewer objects, the game can reach 60FPS. However, during combat or more demanding moments, the frame rate drops sharply. It can fall to 30FPS.
This constant fluctuation affects the overall experience. It makes gameplay feel less smooth and less responsive.
Digital Foundry Suggests Frame Rate Lock Options
Digital Foundry believes the current performance impacts enjoyment.
They suggest adding a frame rate lock option. A stable 30FPS mode could improve consistency. Another option would be a 40FPS mode. Even if it occasionally drops to 30FPS, it may feel smoother overall.
These adjustments could provide a more stable experience for players.
Comparison With Xbox Series S
The analysis also mentions Xbox Series S.
Interestingly, PRAGMATA on Switch 2 still shows better model detail. This follows a trend seen in other RE Engine titles. Despite weaker hardware, Switch 2 manages to deliver sharper assets in some cases.
