Apple Launches Apple Upgrade Monthly Device Subscription Program in the US

Apple has officially introduced Apple Upgrade, a new monthly device subscription program in the United States that makes it easier for customers to access the company’s latest products through flexible payment plans.

Created in partnership with Klarna, the service covers Apple’s most popular devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, and is available through Apple’s online store, Apple Store app, and retail locations.

Flexible Plans for Every Device

Apple Upgrade offers different subscription lengths depending on the product.

  • iPhone and Apple Watch: 12- or 24-month plans
  • Mac and iPad: 24- or 36-month plans

Monthly pricing starts at:

  • US$11.99 for select Apple Watch and iPad models
  • US$17.99 for iPhone
  • US$24.99 for Mac

The program is designed for customers who prefer upgrading to newer hardware regularly without paying the full purchase price upfront.

Trade-In and Apple Card Benefits

New subscribers can reduce their monthly payments by trading in an eligible device through Apple Trade In.

Customers paying with Apple Card will also receive 3% Daily Cash rewards. Applications are processed through Klarna using a soft credit check, allowing approval within minutes without affecting credit scores.

Upgrade, Buy, or Return

At the end of the subscription term, customers can choose to:

  • Upgrade to a newer Apple device
  • Purchase their current device with a final payment
  • Return the device and end the agreement

Users can manage payments and monitor their contracts directly through the Klarna app. AppleCare+ can also be added for additional protection throughout the subscription period.

Replacing Older Financing Programs

With the introduction of Apple Upgrade, Apple is discontinuing both the iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments in the United States.

Existing customers can transition to Apple Upgrade or choose Apple Card Monthly Installments as an alternative financing option.

The launch lineup includes Apple’s newest products such as the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, MacBook Air with the M5 chip, and the latest MacBook Pro, providing customers with another way to stay current with Apple’s newest hardware.
