The Sims 4 Marketplace announced with official mod store

Electronic Arts has officially introduced The Sims 4 Marketplace, a new platform designed to support the thriving modding community surrounding The Sims 4.

Alongside the marketplace, the company also announced The Sims Maker Program, a new initiative that allows mod creators to apply for official participation and sell their creations directly to players.

The Sims Maker Program for creators

The Sims Maker Program is designed to give talented creators a legitimate platform to distribute their work.

Approved creators, referred to as Makers, will be able to upload their mods and custom content for players around the world to purchase. These creations may be sold individually or bundled together as Maker Packs.

Creators will maintain ownership of their work, but all content must follow EA’s technical guidelines to ensure compatibility with the game and prevent issues such as bugs or display errors.

Applications for the program opened on March 5, allowing creators to begin submitting their work.

Those who are interested can apply from March 5 onwards. For more information, please visit this link.

A built in mod marketplace

The Sims 4 Marketplace will be integrated directly into the game itself, making it easier for players to browse, purchase, and install content without leaving the game.

Available items will include both character creation assets and home decoration content.

Players who prefer free content will still have options, as creators can also upload items that are available at no cost.

Because the marketplace operates inside the game, installed content should work immediately without requiring manual file installation or game restarts.

Launch date and platform availability

The Sims 4 Marketplace is scheduled to launch on March 17 for PC and Mac.

Console players on PlayStation and Xbox will need to wait longer, although the system could eventually allow console users to access mods and custom content for the first time.

Introducing Moola currency

Transactions within the marketplace will use a dedicated currency called Moola.

Whenever a purchase occurs, creators will receive compensation through this system, allowing them to earn revenue from their work.

A major step for the mod community

Mods and custom content have long been one of the biggest reasons for The Sims series’ longevity.

With the official launch of The Sims 4 Marketplace, EA is taking a major step toward supporting creators and simplifying the mod experience for players.

The Sims 4 remains free to play on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
