Pokémon Champions Nintendo Switch Release Date Announced

Pokémon Champions Announces Nintendo Switch Release Date: Transfer Pokémon to Battle for Free, Mobile Version Coming This Year
After dropping a fresh new video in late February, The Pokémon Company has officially announced the release date for Pokémon Champions. Developed by a new team called The Pokémon Works, players will get to experience the game first on the Nintendo Switch early next month, before the global mobile version launches later. They also showcased additional gameplay and system introduction videos.
About Pokémon Champions
Experience the ultimate authentic Pokémon battle where players can transfer Pokémon from mainline games like Scarlet & Violet, Legends: Z-A, and other titles like Pokémon GO via Pokémon HOME directly into the champion’s arena. The game heavily emphasizes standard competitive rules, including types, abilities, Mega Evolutions, and move sets, featuring the turn-based gameplay that everyone is familiar with. It also fully supports cross-platform play, allowing you to battle opponents across all devices.
The officially revealed in-game rules feature the traditional mainline turn-based format, divided into Single Battle and Double Battle modes. Players can switch between their team of 6 Pokémon at any time, as well as utilize Mega Evolutions and held items. The game’s balance will mirror the official tournament formats used in the future, making the competitive scene even more intense and heavily esports-oriented.
Players can build their teams using the Pokémon HOME application to transfer companions from Nintendo Switch mainline games and Pokémon GO. Alternatively, you can randomly rent a Pokémon for free once a day (the rental period lasts one week) or by spending VP points. The game is free-to-play, but players have the option to purchase an in-game Battle Pass or subscribe to a monthly service to receive new perks, such as upgrading their Pokémon storage capacity.

The game will be available to play on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 for the first time on April 8, with the mobile versions on iOS and Android arriving later in 2026. If you are interested, start sharpening your skills and preparing your Pokémon in HOME right now!
