Devil May Cry Anime Season 2 Release Date

Following the premiere of the highly anticipated first season on April 3, 2025, fans of Capcom’s legendary hack-and-slash franchise will not have to wait much longer for the next chapter. Netflix has officially released a brand-new, adrenaline-pumping trailer for the Devil May Cry animated series Season 2, and it is already generating massive hype across the community.

The Ultimate Sibling Rivalry: Dante vs. Vergil

The newly released trailer heavily focuses on the deeply complicated and violent relationship between the twin Sons of Sparda. The footage masterfully cuts back and forth between past and present, showcasing intense, high-speed sword clashes and deep emotional flashbacks between Dante and Vergil.

These rapid-fire, beautifully animated action sequences are exactly what fans have been begging for. If the trailer is any indication, viewers are in for an absolute visual treat when the full, uninterrupted fight scenes officially drop on May 12.

The Current State of the DMC Game Franchise

While the anime is moving forward full steam ahead, the video game side of the franchise has remained surprisingly quiet. Since the massive critical and commercial success of Devil May Cry 5 back in 2019, Capcom has not announced any official plans for a sequel.

This radio silence is likely due to the publisher shifting its massive internal development resources toward other major flagship titles, such as the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem and the long-awaited sci-fi adventure PRAGMATA, which is reportedly nearing its full release.

Production and Redemption

The Devil May Cry anime is spearheaded by executive producer Adi Shankar and animated by the highly acclaimed Studio Mir.

While the first season of the adaptation debuted to somewhat mixed critical reception, the team is clearly pulling out all the stops for this continuation. Fans are incredibly hopeful that Season 2 will fully redeem the series by delivering the over-the-top, stylish action and deep lore accuracy that the franchise is famous for. For those who want to catch up, Season 1 is currently available to stream on Netflix.
