Konami Partners With CAF for AFCON 25

Konami Digital Entertainment has officially signed a partnership agreement with the Confederation of African Football, marking a major step forward for football representation within the eFootball franchise. The announcement was made on 4 December 2025 and highlights a collaboration that connects the global eFootball community with the competitive spirit of African football. CAF oversees football associations across the African continent and currently includes fifty six member nations and regions. The organization manages several major competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations, which crowns the top national team in the region and plays a vital role in shaping the growth of football across Africa.
In recent years, football has surged in popularity throughout the continent, driven by rising enthusiasm for both national teams and local clubs. Alongside this trend, the eFootball community in Africa has also expanded, providing momentum for this newly signed licensing agreement. The partnership aims to celebrate the sport’s cultural energy and its growing digital fan base.
To commemorate the collaboration, the eFootball platform will launch a special AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS 25 in game campaign. The event will feature themed competitions and highlight star players from African nations, giving fans a chance to experience the excitement of the tournament in a virtual arena. The campaign serves as the first major step in integrating more African football content and real world momentum into the digital experience.
During the announcement, Koji Kobayashi, Senior Executive Officer at Konami Digital Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. He emphasized the significance of bringing the passion and competitive identity of African football to the global eFootball community. He shared that the collaboration opens the door for new opportunities, including the addition of standout African players and licensed competitions such as the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, which will enhance the authenticity and excitement of the eFootball platform.
Veron Mosengo Omba, Secretary General of CAF, also shared his remarks, noting that the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will be one of the most anticipated and widely followed competitions in the organization’s calendar. He stated that the partnership with Konami reflects CAF’s commitment to innovation, global fan engagement, and the creation of opportunities for African youth in both traditional football and digital entertainment.
Konami Digital Entertainment confirmed that the company will continue expanding its licensing portfolio while striving to deliver increasingly authentic and engaging football experiences to fans around the world through eFootball.
