At Mobile World Congress 2026, ZTE introduced a new kind of AI companion designed to bring emotional comfort to users. Called iMoochi, the small robotic pet aims to redefine how people interact with artificial intelligence in everyday life.
Unlike traditional gadgets, iMoochi is designed to feel more like a living companion than a piece of technology.
A soft AI companion with personality
The device is covered in soft, cloud like fur and features expressive eyes capable of conveying emotions. Instead of speaking like a conventional robot, iMoochi communicates through its own unique sound patterns and language style that aim to feel warm and natural.
This design helps users feel as though they are interacting with a small creature rather than a digital assistant.
Responsive touch and lifelike behavior
iMoochi is equipped with multiple sensors that allow it to respond to physical interaction.
When users gently pet its head or hold it for a while, the AI companion reacts with happy sounds, nuzzling motions, or even a wagging tail. These reactions are designed to simulate the behavior of a real pet.
The robot also has its own rhythm of activity. It may yawn when it becomes sleepy, react to temperature changes, show excitement when tossed lightly into the air, or signal when it feels hungry.
These behaviors help create the illusion that the device has its own personality and daily routine.
Designed for emotional support
ZTE developed iMoochi with several types of users in mind. The device is aimed at urban professionals dealing with daily stress, animal lovers who cannot keep pets in their living spaces, and families looking for a shared interactive experience.
There are five different iMoochi characters available, each with a distinct personality:
- Hopami
- Mimiu
- Cynomi
- Mogogo
- Morin
This allows users to choose a companion that best matches their personal preferences.

Companion app and ecosystem integration
To strengthen the bond between user and AI companion, iMoochi connects to a mobile app where owners can name their pet, check its emotional status, and read small diary entries generated by the AI.
The device also integrates with ZTE’s ecosystem, including the nubia M153 smartphone that features the Doubao AI Assistant, expanding the interaction capabilities of the companion.
AI for everyday life
The launch of iMoochi is part of ZTE’s broader AI for All strategy, which aims to bring artificial intelligence into everyday life in ways that feel approachable and meaningful.
Rather than focusing purely on productivity, the company hopes iMoochi will help fill emotional gaps in modern digital lifestyles, turning AI into something that feels warm, supportive, and personal.
