HTC Unveils Vive Eagle: AI Smart Glasses to Rival Ray-Ban Meta

HTC has launched the Vive Eagle, a pair of AI-powered smart glasses aimed squarely at challenging Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. These new specs come equipped with AI assistants currently in beta—supporting both Google Gemini and ChatGPT—and offer real-time translation of what you see into 13 languages. They sport a 12 MP ultra-wide camera and weigh just 49 g, ensuring a lightweight, everyday wear.

The audio experience is enhanced by Bose open-ear speakers with virtual bass, complemented by four microphones for voice commands, calls, and voice memos. The built-in battery offers impressive endurance: up to 4.5 hours of music playback and 36 hours on standby. Fast charging via a magnetic port replenishes 50% capacity in just 10 minutes.

Privacy is front and center in the design. All user data—photos, videos—are stored locally with AES-256 encryption. There’s no cloud upload or AI training using personal data. A clearly visible LED shows when recording is active, and cameras auto-disable when the glasses are removed or blocked.

Available exclusively in Taiwan for now—via pre-orders at 2020EYEhaus locations and Taiwan Mobile stores—the Vive Eagle is priced at NT$15,600 (roughly ฿16,800) and comes in four colors: red (Berry), brown (Coffee), grey, and black. Buyers also receive sun lenses, a case, and two years of Vive AI Plus.
