Tokyo Game Show 2026 Set for September 17–21 as TGS 2025 Draws 263,101 Attendees

Japan’s biggest gaming event, Tokyo Game Show (TGS), continues to stand as one of the most influential stages for the global gaming industry. Following the successful conclusion of TGS 2025, the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) has officially announced that Tokyo Game Show 2026 will take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from September 17 to 21, 2026. For the first time in its history, the event will be extended to a five-day schedule.

TGS 2025 Draws Over 263,000 Visitors

The recently concluded Tokyo Game Show 2025, held from September 25 to 28, saw massive success with a total of 263,101 attendees across four days. According to Gematsu, the first two business days hosted 52,352 and 54,779 visitors respectively, while the two public days welcomed 77,415 and 78,555 attendees.

Although slightly lower than the 274,739 visitors recorded in 2024, this year’s attendance remained significantly higher than the 243,238 visitors in 2023. Notably, TGS 2025 recorded more business attendees than the previous year, despite a slight dip in public day attendance.

The event also set new records with 1,136 exhibitors from 47 countries and regions, along with 3,591 business meetings held during the show. This reinforces TGS’s dual role as both a showcase for the latest game reveals and a key hub for industry networking on a global scale.

Major Highlights and Big Reveals

TGS 2025 delivered a packed lineup of announcements from major publishers. Microsoft made headlines with the reveal of Forza Horizon 6, confirming that players will experience Japan’s roads and car culture firsthand. Meanwhile, Capcom, Sega, Konami, Koei Tecmo, and PlayStation showcased their upcoming titles, with one of the most anticipated moments being the hands-on demo of Resident Evil Requiem on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

With record-breaking participation and growing global attention, TGS continues to prove why it remains the heart of the gaming industry in Asia. As the countdown begins for Tokyo Game Show 2026, all eyes are set on what the next chapter will bring.
