Google Photos Rolls Out Major Update with New AI Video Highlight Tools
Google Photos has introduced a significant update that brings faster, smarter, and more intuitive video creation tools to users across Android and soon, other platforms. The update includes new ready to use templates with music and text, along with a redesigned video editor that helps users finish highlight reels in one place with much greater ease.
The new templates aim to simplify the entire process of assembling a highlight reel. Users can select from prepared music and text options before combining photos and clips into a polished video within seconds. The system automatically aligns visuals with the timing of the selected music, creating smooth and professional looking results without requiring advanced editing steps.
The highlight creation flow has also been streamlined. By opening the Create menu and selecting Highlight Video, users can quickly combine moments from trips, celebrations, and personal events into a single shareable video. This makes it easier to capture memories and send them to friends and family in a polished format.

In addition to templates, Google Photos has launched a redesigned video editor across Android and iOS. The new interface features a Unified Timeline that displays all clips on a single screen and a canvas that adapts to each project. This cleaner layout helps users organize their edits more efficiently and stay focused on the final look of their video.
Users can now add both music and text directly within the new editor. It has become the default editing tool for Android, offering convenient access to an in app music library that can be used as soundtracks for highlight videos on both platforms. This addition removes concerns about external music licensing and streamlines the creative process.
Android users receive an exclusive enhancement as well. The update allows them to insert custom text into highlight videos with adjustable fonts, colors, and backgrounds. This level of personalization helps creators match their visual style and make each highlight video more expressive. With these upgrades, Google Photos continues evolving beyond a simple photo storage app and into a full featured creative tool for memory sharing.
