Eveline Manipulates the Baker Family in Resident Evil VII

A detail often overlooked because it appears only at the beginning of the DLC
Resident Evil VII stands out as one of the most compelling entries in the series, reinventing the classic survival horror formula with a fresh gameplay approach while keeping the original’s chilling tone. Its success has been remarkable, consistently selling over a million copies annually. Recently, Resident Bio Evil fans uncovered an intriguing detail about the game’s iconic antagonist, Eveline, that often goes unnoticed.
While exploring the Baker household, players will notice that both Jack and Lucas have a history with American football, complete with football helmets displayed in the home. However, hidden game files reveal that at the beginning of the story, when Eveline also called Eve, the mobile bioweapon with the appearance of a young girl is introduced, she actually plays football with her caretaker. This early interaction hints that Eveline sees the Baker family as her “real” family and subtly manipulates Jack into playing football with her.
It may sound unbelievable, but the DLC Banned Footage: Daughter reinforces this detail. In the same location, the home’s interior is slightly rearranged. The night before Eve enters the house, shelves are placed differently. Once the main campaign begins, the shelves are moved near the bedroom, with helmets positioned as if football had been played frequently, illustrating Eveline’s influence over the family’s behavior.
For context, Eveline was created by a secret organization hired by Miranda, the villain from the following installment. Miranda had lost her daughter to a deadly outbreak and shared Mold research and knowledge with the organization, resulting in Eveline’s creation. Because Eveline was designed to appear as a child, it makes sense that her behavior like wanting to play football reflects a mix of innocence and manipulation.
Resident Evil VII is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, featuring the new protagonist, Ethan. Players follow Ethan on a harrowing journey to find his missing wife, who has been gone for two years, only to discover she is still alive. This adventure immerses players in unforgettable horror while introducing a first-person perspective that heightens the terror and suspense.
