King of Tokyo Board Game Adapted into Kaiju Strategy Video Game

Board game fans, get ready! Breakfirst, in collaboration with Microids, has announced the video game adaptation of King of Tokyo, letting players strategize as kaiju and wreak havoc in the Japanese capital. Players can pick their ultimate monster, from mutant dinosaurs to cyborg cats, and compete to dominate the city first.

About King of Tokyo

In the original board game, players take on the roles of various kaiju, rolling dice with unique perks, performing different actions, and attempting to destroy Tokyo. Success relies on powerful combo cards and reaching 20 points before other monsters while battling rivals on the board. Each dice roll introduces unpredictable events that can turn the tide of the game.

The video game adaptation enhances the experience, replacing imagined board spaces with fully 3D models and adding helpful menus for easier gameplay. Players can go solo against AI, team up with friends locally using shared controllers, or connect online via Steam Remote Play for multiplayer chaos.

King of Tokyo is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Fans can visit the store pages now to preview the game. This adaptation promises to capture the thrill of the original board game while adding modern features for digital play.
