Minecraft Reveals Complete Baby Animal Model Overhaul for Future Update
Minecraft is not only home to player characters, villagers, and hostile mobs. Its vast open world is also filled with animals inspired by real life creatures such as pigs, cows, sheep, and chickens. These animals play an important role in survival gameplay, whether as food sources or materials like wool. Each species currently exists in both adult and baby forms, which players often raise and farm.
However, one long standing complaint among parts of the community has been the appearance of baby animals. Until now, Baby Animals have essentially been identical to adult models, simply scaled down in size. This results in small bodies with oversized heads and stiff proportions, which many players find unsettling rather than cute. Mojang has now confirmed that this design is finally being addressed.
According to the official Minecraft blog, the development team is preparing a major update that completely redesigns Baby Animal models. Game director Agnes Larsson explained that baby animals previously felt like shrunken adults rather than unique creatures of their own. The goal of the update is to give each baby animal more personality and a more natural appearance.
The new designs feature shorter legs, better body proportions, and eyes that use simpler single color patterns. Many animals also appear rounder and fluffier, creating the impression of thicker fur. The baby chicken stands out in particular, becoming the smallest creature model the team has ever created.
The first group of animals confirmed for the overhaul includes wolves, cats, calves, chicks, pigs, ocelots, sheep, and rabbits. These changes aim to make encounters with baby animals feel more believable and visually pleasing while maintaining Minecraft’s iconic block based style. Mojang has shared preview images showcasing these redesigned models, giving players an early look at what to expect.
Minecraft itself remains one of the most successful sandbox games ever created. Players are free to build, explore, and survive in a voxel based world filled with creativity and danger. The game is available across multiple platforms, and the Bedrock Edition on consoles and Windows supports full cross platform play.
With this Baby Animal update, Minecraft continues to refine even its smallest details, proving that long loved worlds can still evolve in meaningful ways for both new and veteran players alike.
