[Preview] My Hero Academia: All’s Justice Brings the Third Mainline Entry for Fans

The Third Mainline Entry Built for Fans

Last week, This Is Game Team had the opportunity to preview My Hero Academia: All’s Justice thanks to Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia. In this preview, we take a closer look at the overall experience, gameplay systems, and the various modes available in this upcoming title.
Note:
This preview was conducted on PC via Steam, tested using a PlayStation 5 controller and keyboard. Certain observations may change in the final release as adjustments and refinements are made after this preview build.
Playable Modes Overview
During the preview session, four main modes were available for testing.
Story Mode
Players follow the main narrative while completing quests and progressing through story-driven missions. The experience closely aligns with the anime’s pacing and presentation, offering a cinematic way to relive major moments from the series.

Free Battle
A flexible combat mode featuring a wide selection of characters and stages. Players can choose from several battle formats:
- 1P vs 2P
- 1P vs CPU, with difficulty levels ranging from Lv.1 to Lv.5
This mode is ideal for experimenting with characters, practicing combos, or enjoying casual battles.

Team Up Mission
A cooperative-focused mode where players form a three-character team to complete missions together. Coordination between characters and Quirk synergy plays a key role in overcoming challenges.

Hero’s Diary
This mode dives deeper into individual character stories. Players can experience character-specific battles and narrative moments, expanding the lore and personality of each hero and villain.

Gameplay and Controls
The combat system is easy to pick up and follows the fast-paced action style expected from an anime fighting game. Controls are intuitive, supported by in-game guides that explain button inputs, actions, and each character’s unique Quirk abilities.
Combat emphasizes timing and momentum. Successfully landing attacks allows players to chain combos, dash into enemies, and extend damage through aerial follow-ups and well-timed abilities. The flow of battle rewards players who understand spacing and rhythm rather than button mashing.
Visuals and Presentation
Visually, the game closely resembles the anime, with vibrant colors and dynamic effects that enhance the overall hype for fans of the series. Environments are interactive, adding extra impact to combat encounters.
Cutscenes blend seamlessly with gameplay, maintaining immersion without noticeable interruptions. Transitions between action and story moments feel smooth and polished.

User Interface and Accessibility
The UI is clean and easy to navigate. The game automatically detects the input device being used, switching button prompts accordingly when changing between controller and keyboard.
A particularly helpful feature is the mini-map. Quest markers are clearly pinned, making navigation straightforward and reducing unnecessary backtracking, especially during story missions.
Settings and Customization
Players can fine-tune various settings, especially graphical options, to match their PC specifications for smoother performance. UI elements are also customizable.
Additional customization options include:
- Profile Settings
Customize the character HP gauge design.

- Character Customization
Change poses and costumes using in-game currency.

- Background Music
Assign character-themed music tracks to enhance immersion.

Menus and modes can be accessed through the character’s in-game smartphone, offering quick navigation to Team Up Mission, Free Battle, Story Mode, profile customization, Character Memory, missions, Hero’s Diary, character cards, and team management.
Hero’s Diary even includes lighthearted side quests, such as searching for a missing cat, adding charm to the overall experience.

Highlights and Observations
Strengths
- Enjoyable and responsive action combat
- Clear and user-friendly mini-map
- Fast menu access through the in-game smartphone system
Points to Note
- The victory cutscene after winning a match lasts only two to three seconds. A slightly longer duration would give players more time to capture screenshots and celebrate their wins.
Final Thoughts
My Hero Academia: All’s Justice is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Designed as a true next-generation entry, the game aligns its story with The Final Chapter of the anime and delivers both a robust story campaign and multiplayer-capable combat systems.
Pre-orders are now available, and fans of the series should keep a close eye on upcoming announcements. Stay tuned with This Is Game SEA for more updates and hands-on impressions from the world of games.
