Microsoft Paint and Notepad Get AI Upgrades with Coloring Books and GPT

Microsoft is expanding AI beyond productivity tools, adding playful and creative features to its classic applications. Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, has announced the launch of AI Coloring Books in Paint, allowing users to generate custom line art for coloring based on text prompts. For example, typing “fluffy cat on a donut” produces multiple line-art options that users can select, save, or even print as real coloring pages for family fun.

This feature is currently rolling out to Windows Insiders and is exclusive to Copilot+ PCs. Microsoft also introduced a Fill Tolerance Slider in Paint, enabling finer control and smoother color application.

Meanwhile, Notepad receives significant AI upgrades as well. The Write, Rewrite, and Summarize functions now leverage GPT to polish writing, simplify complex content, and provide instant previews for faster editing.

To access these features, users must be part of the Windows Insider program on the Canary or Dev channels of Windows 11 and sign in with a Microsoft account to utilize cloud-powered AI. While these devices are on the higher-end of the market, the combination of AI-driven creativity and productivity tools makes the updates compelling for early adopters and enthusiasts.
