Director Expresses Interest in Developing a New Resident Evil Revelations

Director Interested in Developing a New Resident Evil Revelations

Looking back over a decade ago, aside from the mainline Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Revelations stood out as a spin-off that delivered modern survival horror experiences. During that period, the main series shifted toward more action-focused gameplay, prompting players who wanted traditional scares to turn to Revelations, which featured returning characters like Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine in leading roles.

Since Resident Evil VII, the Revelations series has become less prominent, as the mainline games successfully restored the original survival horror experience through to titles like Resident Evil Requiem. However, the spin-off games remain fondly remembered.

Speaking with Japanese media outlet 4Gamer, current director Koshi Nakanishi expressed interest in exploring new, untold stories within the Revelations universe. He mentioned curiosity about the fates of characters who have not appeared in recent titles—an idea that initially helped inspire the first Revelations, where fans wanted Jill back in the spotlight.

Koshi Nakanishi has extensive experience across the franchise, having worked on The Mercenaries 3D, Resident Evil 5, and current mainline entries, as well as directing Resident Evil Revelations itself. This makes him a natural choice to lead any potential new installment in the series.

Resident Evil Revelations was first released in 2012, detailing the early days of the BSAA as Jill investigates Chris’s disappearance on the ship Queen Zenobia, only to uncover the horrifying T-Abyss virus outbreak and become entangled in a Terragrigia terror plot. The game has since been ported to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Fans may now have reason to hope that Revelations could return, potentially expanding the stories of their favorite characters in ways not yet explored.
