Elon Musk Slams Anthropic, Claims Claude AI Is Biased and Anti-Human

Elon Musk Accuses Anthropic of Creating a “Misanthropic” AI

The global tech industry was shaken in early 2026 after Elon Musk, owner of X and founder of xAI, launched a scathing public attack against Anthropic, one of the world’s leading AI developers.

Musk accused Anthropic’s flagship AI model, Claude, of being “misanthropic and evil,” claiming it contains deeply embedded racial and demographic biases. His remarks surfaced shortly after Anthropic announced a massive new funding round exceeding 30 billion USD, pushing the company’s valuation to an estimated 380 billion USD.

Allegations of Severe Bias in Claude AI

In a series of posts on X, Musk claimed that Claude demonstrates hostility toward multiple demographic groups, including white people, Asians, heterosexuals, and men. He argued that such biases are not accidental but the result of deliberate ideological constraints imposed during development.

Musk also mocked Anthropic’s name, suggesting that it contradicts what he described as the company’s anti-human philosophy. He urged Anthropic to address the issue immediately, calling the current state of the model dangerous and unacceptable.

A Rivalry Fueled by Competition

Tensions between Musk and Anthropic are not new. Anthropic is led by Dario Amodei, and its Claude model directly competes with Grok, the chatbot developed by xAI.

Earlier in January 2026, reports indicated that Anthropic restricted xAI’s access to Claude. Musk publicly criticized the decision, framing it as unethical and harmful to innovation. This latest outburst appears to escalate an already strained relationship between the two AI camps.

Collateral Tensions With OpenAI

Anthropic was not the only target of Musk’s criticism. He continues to clash publicly with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. Musk recently warned users against relying on ChatGPT, claiming potential life-threatening risks.

Altman responded by referencing safety controversies surrounding Tesla’s Autopilot system, highlighting how personal and ideological the AI rivalry among tech leaders has become.

Ideological Divide in the AI Industry

Anthropic’s record-breaking funding round ranks among the largest private tech investments in history, second only to OpenAI. The strong investor confidence reflects Claude’s popularity among enterprise users, especially for coding assistance and its strict safety framework.

Musk, however, argues that these safety systems are not neutral, describing them as ideological filters aligned with what he labels as “woke” values. The dispute underscores a deeper philosophical divide in AI development: safety-first governance versus unrestricted truth-seeking models.

A Battle That Shapes the Future of AI

As public confrontations between AI leaders intensify, the debate goes beyond corporate rivalry. It raises fundamental questions about how future AI systems should be designed, who defines neutrality, and how much control is too much.

Ultimately, the outcome of this ideological war will not only shape the direction of artificial intelligence but also affect how billions of users interact with these systems in everyday life.
