New Resident Evil Requiem speedrun world record hits 1:45:29

The speedrunning community has already begun pushing limits in Resident Evil Requiem. A new world record has emerged with an astonishing completion time of 1 hour, 45 minutes, and 29 seconds in Casual difficulty.

The record quickly became a hot topic among players and speedrunners. The game has only been out for a few weeks, yet runners are already discovering new routes and strategies to drastically reduce completion time.

Why the 1:45:29 record is impressive

For most players, finishing Resident Evil Requiem takes around 10 to 15 hours. The story takes players through dangerous locations such as Rhodes Hill while managing limited resources and surviving enemy encounters.

Completing the entire game in just under two hours is therefore a remarkable achievement. The runner responsible for the record completed the game in roughly one tenth of the typical playtime.

Several factors helped make the run possible. Speedrunners discovered ways to skip key scenes and optimize routes for sections involving Leon S. Kennedy and Grace.

Players also minimized resource collection. Instead of searching every area, they ran past enemies whenever possible and avoided unnecessary combat encounters.

Advanced strategies and potential glitches

Another major factor in the record may involve advanced strategies during boss battles. Some observers suspect that the runner used special techniques or potential glitches to shorten boss fights significantly.

Reducing boss encounters by even a few seconds can drastically affect final completion time in speedruns. When combined with optimized routing, these small improvements add up quickly.

Before this run, the widely accepted world record sat at around two hours. Dropping the record to 1:45:29 represents a significant leap forward for the community.

Speedrunning competition is just beginning

Despite setting a new benchmark, the record holder has stated that this run may not represent the absolute limit yet. More optimized routes and strategies could still push the time lower.

The real competition may begin soon when the official leaderboard opens on Speedrun.com. The site is preparing to host the official competitive board for the game.

Once the leaderboard becomes active, speedrunners worldwide will begin submitting runs and competing for the fastest possible completion time.

For now, the 1:45:29 record stands as the new target that the global speedrunning community must try to beat.
