Resident Evil Requiem IV pole zombie can defeat powerful enemies

A strange and hilarious gameplay discovery has recently gone viral among players of Resident Evil Requiem, revealing that a particular zombie enemy can unexpectedly defeat much stronger monsters with a single hit.
The moment was first shared by a player on X (formerly Twitter) who demonstrated how a hospital zombie carrying an IV pole can eliminate a powerful enemy in one strike.
The noisy hospital zombie mechanic
During the hospital section of the game where players control Grace Ashcroft, survival becomes especially tense because the character has limited weapons to defend herself.
Many players rely on stealth and avoidance rather than direct combat, especially when encountering dangerous enemies such as the giant chef zombie.
However, one particular enemy known by players as “Noisy” behaves differently.
This zombie is a patient dragging an IV pole that reacts aggressively to loud sounds. It becomes hostile whenever it hears running, gunfire, or other noise nearby.
Using enemy AI against itself
A player known online as neko_sougo discovered an unusual trick using this mechanic.
By throwing a glass bottle near the giant chef zombie, the player created a loud noise that triggered the Noisy zombie’s aggression. The IV pole carrying zombie immediately rushed toward the sound and struck the chef enemy.
Surprisingly, the attack instantly killed the giant chef in a single hit.
The discovery quickly spread online because the enemy normally requires significantly more effort to defeat.
Damage system mystery
Players are still unsure how the game calculates damage for this interaction.
Under the Standard difficulty setting, the IV pole attack normally does not deal enough damage to instantly kill playable characters like Grace or Leon S. Kennedy.
However, reports suggest that the same zombie can also instantly defeat other powerful enemies such as The Chunk, a large child like monster, when playing on the Insanity difficulty level.
Some players even reported unlocking achievements for defeating these enemies without realizing the zombie had killed them off screen.
Another example of Resident Evil’s detailed systems
Moments like this highlight the depth of AI interactions within Resident Evil Requiem.
The game continues the series tradition of creating highly detailed environments and enemy behaviors. From subtle character animations to complex AI reactions, the developers at Capcom have packed the game with small systems that can lead to unexpected outcomes.
Resident Evil Requiem is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, delivering the latest survival horror experience powered by the RE Engine.
