Gaming health warning spreads across community

Gaming health warning after extreme gaming marathon

Long gaming sessions are common in the modern gaming scene, especially among competitive players and streamers trying to climb rankings or complete challenges. However, a recent gaming health case has sparked discussion about the risks of playing for extended periods without rest.

According to a report shared online by ICU nurse Lin Ting, a university student reportedly experienced a serious medical emergency after playing online games almost continuously for several days.

The incident has since become a cautionary story often discussed in conversations about gaming health and player wellbeing.

Gaming session lasted four days

The report describes how the student spent nearly four days and three nights in front of a computer during a holiday period.

During that time, he reportedly played online games almost continuously. He only left his seat briefly to use the bathroom or grab small snacks before returning to the game.

Family members had warned him to take breaks and rest, but he continued playing for extended periods without proper sleep.

Sudden medical emergency

The situation escalated one night when the student stood up to go to the bathroom. Moments later he reportedly cried out in pain before collapsing.

At the hospital, doctors discovered that he had suffered a Cerebral aneurysm rupture, which caused severe bleeding in the brain.

Medical staff attempted emergency surgery and intensive treatment. Despite those efforts, the patient remained dependent on life support for months.

Eventually, the family decided to discontinue treatment.

Why prolonged gaming can be dangerous

Doctors emphasize that brain blood vessel rupture is not limited to older adults. Several lifestyle factors can increase the risk, including:

  • Severe sleep deprivation
  • Long periods of stress
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Smoking or alcohol use
  • Extended sedentary behavior

When these factors combine, they can weaken blood vessels and increase the chance of serious medical complications.

While gaming itself is not inherently dangerous, extremely long sessions without sleep or proper rest can place significant strain on the body.

A reminder for gamers to take breaks

The incident has become a strong reminder about the importance of maintaining healthy gaming habits.

Taking regular breaks, stretching, resting the eyes, and getting enough sleep can significantly reduce health risks. Even short breaks away from the screen can help the body recover during long gaming sessions.

Many players focus on improving ranks, completing challenges, or streaming for long hours. However, maintaining physical health remains just as important as achieving in-game success.

In the end, gaming should remain a form of entertainment and enjoyment, not something that puts a player’s health at risk.
