Palworld version 1.0 launches in 2026 with “biggest update ever”

Palworld confirms continued support after leaving Early Access

Pocketpair has officially addressed the future of its massive survival hit, Palworld, as it prepares to exit Early Access. Since its 2024 debut, the game has reached over 32 million players and established itself as a global franchise. During a recent interview at GDC 2026, John “Bucky” Buckley, the head of community and publishing, confirmed that Version 1.0 is targeted for release later this year. Furthermore, he reassured the community that leaving Early Access does not mean the end of development. However, the studio intends to take a different path compared to other long-term live-service titles.

Avoiding the “No Man’s Sky” update model

Despite the game’s massive success, Bucky clarified that fans should not expect a “No Man’s Sky situation.” While Hello Games has provided a decade of continuous, massive updates, Pocketpair believes such a model would eventually lead to “massive bloat” for a survival crafting game. Bucky explained that adding endless levels and mechanics could eventually make the game feel like a chore for casual players. Instead, the team aims to deliver high-quality, meaningful content that maintains the game’s core identity. Consequently, while updates will continue post-1.0, they will be more focused on refining the experience rather than expanding it indefinitely.

Version 1.0 and the World Tree expansion

The upcoming 1.0 update is shaping up to be the largest content drop in Palworld’s history. Key highlights include:

  • The World Tree: A major endgame scenario located inside the massive World Tree, providing a proper conclusion to the current journey.
  • Level Cap Increase: New challenges and higher levels for both players and Pals.
  • Endgame Content: A “truly massive” amount of content designed for veteran players who have already explored the Palpagos Islands.
  • Performance Polish: Significant bug fixes and engine optimizations to prepare the game for its full retail launch.

Expanding the franchise with Palfarm

As the main team prepares for the 1.0 launch, Pocketpair is also diversifying the brand. The studio recently announced Palworld: Palfarm, a cozy farming simulator spin-off. This new title focuses on building the farm of your dreams alongside your Pals, featuring mechanics similar to Stardew Valley but with the unique “survival” edge of the Palworld universe. While smaller teams within Pocketpair work on these creative spin-offs, the core focus remains on ensuring that the main game reaches its full potential as a 1.0 product.

The roadmap for Palworld in 2026 includes:

  • Official 1.0 Launch: Scheduled for later in 2026, marking the end of the Early Access period.
  • Price Adjustment: Pocketpair has hinted that the price may increase once the game hits its full release state.
  • Cross-play Support: Continued efforts to synchronize the experience across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
  • Major Collaborations: Following the successful Terraria crossover, more high-profile partnerships are expected.
Palworld version 1.0 update

Palworld continues to be a dominant force in the gaming world, balancing its “renegade spirit” with a structured plan for the future. By focusing on a definitive 1.0 version, Pocketpair hopes to deliver a polished and complete experience that stands on its own merits for years to come.
