Yoshi P Talks FFXIV Switch 2 FPS Drops and Performance Details

Yoshi-P Reveals Final Fantasy XIV Online on Switch 2 May Experience Frame Drops in Some Areas
However, key gameplay sections can run at a stable 30FPS
Itโs safe to say that Final Fantasy XIV Online will become one of the most popular MMORPG experiences on a new platform, as the game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in the middle of this year. This version is designed specifically for a portable platform for the first time, while still supporting the same servers and content as other platforms. Naturally, this presents a significant technical challenge, and many players are curious about performance.
Based on its processor architecture and on-paper specifications, the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to run the game at a level comparable to, or slightly better than, the PlayStation 4, though it wonโt reach the performance level of high-end platforms like the PlayStation 5.
During a Fan Fest event, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) shared more details about how the game performs on the hybrid console. He openly acknowledged that frame drops may occur in certain areas, particularly in locations with a large number of objects and players.
Yoshi-P confirmed that the development team is continuously optimizing the game to deliver the best possible experience. He noted that large cities filled with NPCs and players are the most likely areas to encounter frame rate issues.

However, once players enter dungeons or quest areas where characters are more spread out, the game is able to maintain a stable 30FPS. He also praised the Switch 2 as an excellent device that provides flexibility for both portable and docked gameplay.
