Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Officially Revealed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has officially been announced.

Infinity Ward and Activision have revealed the newest Call of Duty title for 2026, bringing the rebooted Modern Warfare universe into its fourth chapter.

Players can pre-order the game starting today. Everyone who pre-orders will receive early access to the Open Beta Test, along with the new Hunter Killer skin for Warzone. Players can also upgrade to the Vault Edition, which includes additional skins and the Battle Pass for Season 1.

A new Modern Warfare campaign begins

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 returns as a first-person shooter built around a new war on the Korean Peninsula.

The campaign follows Park, an operative caught in a massive conflict after North Korea launches an attack. What begins as a regional crisis soon grows into a major battle that could shake the entire world.

This new campaign aims to deliver strong pressure, realistic visuals, and the terrifying atmosphere of modern war. For players who follow the rebooted Modern Warfare storyline, this fourth entry looks ready to push the series into another high-stakes global conflict.

Multiplayer returns with full crossplay

Of course, Modern Warfare 4 will also include the franchise’s signature multiplayer experience.

The game will support full crossplay across all available platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2. This is especially notable because it marks the first time Nintendo players will be able to enjoy a new mainline Call of Duty entry since Call of Duty: Ghosts, more than 10 years ago.

Players can expect familiar multiplayer modes such as standard 6v6 Deathmatch, along with smoother gameplay adjustments designed to make combat feel more fluid.

DMZ returns as a modern extraction experience

The game will also feature DMZ, offering a modern extraction-style experience for players who enjoy risk-based combat, tactical movement, and survival-focused objectives.

This mode gives players another option beyond standard competitive multiplayer. Instead of only chasing kills, players must think about survival, resources, positioning, and when to escape the battlefield.

For players who enjoyed Call of Duty’s extraction-style gameplay, Modern Warfare 4 looks ready to bring that experience into the new entry.

Launch date and platforms

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23.

The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Players who want to follow the game can already visit its Steam page to check the latest details and add the title to their wishlist.

THIS IS our take

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 sounds like a major release for both longtime fans and returning players. The Korean Peninsula war theme gives the campaign a serious global conflict angle, while the return of multiplayer, DMZ, and full crossplay makes the package feel complete. The biggest surprise is Nintendo Switch 2 support, which could bring Call of Duty back to Nintendo players in a major way after more than a decade. If the performance holds up across platforms, this could become one of 2026’s biggest FPS launches.
