DragonSword Awakening Demo Opens Free on Steam Now

DragonSword : Awakening Free Demo Is Now Available on Steam
After facing a major industry drama that nearly ended the project, Hound13 is finally ready to prove what DragonSword : Awakening can become.
The game previously faced serious trouble after business conflicts and publishing issues. Instead of letting the project disappear, the team made a bold decision. Hound13 refunded players from the live-service version in full, rebuilt the game, and shifted it from a free gacha title into a Premium Buy-to-Play experience.
This means players can expect a one-time purchase model without Pay-to-Win systems getting in the way.
Now, DragonSword : Awakening is taking its next step by releasing a free demo on Steam. Players around the world can download and try the game today before it joins Steam Next Fest and launches in full this July.
Begin the Journey Across Orbis
The free demo gives players a first look at the main systems and early story of DragonSword : Awakening.
Players can experience Chapter 1, which introduces the journey of Lute, a young boy who travels with a colorful mercenary group. He joins characters such as Johnny and Castella, an eccentric elf archaeologist.
Their adventure unfolds under the shadow of an ancient dragon that has awakened after 60 years.
The demo covers the first chapter from the full game’s 8-chapter story.
9 Playable Heroes in the Demo
The full version of DragonSword : Awakening will include 19 playable characters.
For the demo, players can try 9 heroes, each with different abilities, combat styles, and personality. This should give players enough room to test the game’s party system and discover which characters match their preferred playstyle.
Players can also explore selected areas of the Orbis continent, an anime-style open world built with Unreal Engine 5.
The demo is expected to offer around 1 to 2 hours of content.
Tag-Team Action With Status Combos
One of the biggest highlights of DragonSword : Awakening is its fast Action RPG combat.
The battle system focuses on Status Ailments, Signal Skills, and team coordination. Each character can apply different status effects to enemies.
Once players build the right conditions or create a strong status combo, they can switch characters through Tag-Action and unleash powerful coordinated attacks.
This system rewards team building, timing, and quick decision-making. Players who enjoy stylish action combat may find plenty to test in the demo.
Demo Schedule and PC Requirements
The DragonSword : Awakening demo is available now until 24 June 2026 at 2:00 AM.
Players only have around 19 days to try the demo, so those interested should download it before the limited-time period ends.
The minimum PC requirements are:
- OS: Windows 10
- Processor: Intel i5-9400F
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 60 GB available space
Players who enjoy the demo can also add the game to their Steam Wishlist to support Hound13 before the full release.
DragonSword : Awakening is scheduled to launch on PC in July 2026.
DragonSword : Awakening has one of the more interesting comeback stories in recent RPG news. Moving from a troubled live-service model into a premium buy-to-play action RPG gives the game a cleaner second chance. With anime-style open-world exploration, tag-team combat, 9 demo heroes, and no gacha pressure, this free Steam demo feels like the best way for players to see whether Hound13’s big gamble can pay off.
