Resident Evil CODE: Veronica Mod Adds Modern Over-the-Shoulder Camera

Resident Evil CODE: Veronica may be remembered for its classic tank controls and fixed-camera survival horror style, but a new fan-made mod is giving the game a much more modern perspective.

A creator named HeySnippy has introduced the Modern Camera Mod, a modification that changes the original camera system into an over-the-shoulder view. The result makes the classic game feel closer to later Resident Evil titles while still keeping the original foundation intact.

From Fixed Camera to Over-the-Shoulder View

Resident Evil CODE: Veronica was already important for the franchise because it moved away from pre-rendered backgrounds and used fully 3D environments.

Because of that, the idea of a modern camera angle feels more possible compared to older entries with static background images. The new mod takes advantage of this by shifting the camera behind the character, creating a perspective that feels closer to newer Resident Evil games.

Keyboard and Mouse Support Included

The Modern Camera Mod also supports keyboard and mouse controls.

This makes the experience feel more natural for players who want a PC-style control setup. However, there is one important limitation: the mod must be used through an emulator.

Still in Early Access

The mod is currently in Early Access and still needs further development.

It is clearly not perfect yet, especially with clipping and aiming limitations, but the concept is exciting.
