Catalyst Core Brings Grid-Based Roguelike Deckbuilding to Steam
Thai indie developer Satk, together with publisher Karus, has officially announced Catalyst Core, a new grid-based roguelike deckbuilder coming to Steam.
The game blends tactical board movement with customizable card decks and an elemental reaction system, giving players plenty of opportunities to experiment with powerful builds. The Steam store page is now live, allowing interested players to add the game to their wishlist ahead of launch.
Build Powerful Elemental Card Combos
Catalyst Core allows players to infuse cards with three different elements:
- Pyro
- Hydro
- Dendro
Instead of relying on fixed elemental cards, players can freely assign elements to their cards and create their own strategies. By collecting Elemental Cores, players can enhance elemental effects, unlock new synergies, and build increasingly powerful combinations throughout each run.
Three Starter Decks
Players can choose from three starting decks:
- Fire Deck
- Water Deck
- Plant Deck
Each deck offers its own unique playstyle. As enemies are defeated, new cards are added to the deck while gold earned during each run can be spent in shops to purchase additional Elemental Cores and other upgrades.
Tactical Grid-Based Battles
Combat takes place on a grid where positioning is just as important as deck construction.
Carefully placing your character can maximize attack efficiency, allowing you to trigger devastating elemental reactions while setting up powerful multi-card combos against enemies.
Because rewards, encounters, and card choices change with every run, no two playthroughs are exactly the same.
A Promising New Thai Indie Title
Catalyst Core is shaping up to be an exciting addition for fans of roguelike deckbuilders, especially those who enjoy tactical positioning and RPG-inspired elemental mechanics.
