Hop.Earth Lets You Drive Anywhere on Earth in a Browser-Based Racing Game

A new browser-based project called Hop.Earth is turning the entire planet into a massive driving playground, allowing players to cruise through real-world locations or race friends across virtually any road on Earth.

Developed by DVLPLONDON, Hop.Earth generates its world in real time using OpenStreetMap data combined with satellite elevation information. Players simply search for a location, parachute into the selected area, and begin driving through a fully rendered 3D environment directly in their web browser.

The project also includes multiplayer functionality, allowing players to create custom start and finish points before sharing a link with friends for competitive races.

The latest development update introduces an experimental night mode currently in testing, along with improved road textures, more detailed terrain, and millions of streetlights designed to create a more immersive driving experience. Reflecting on the progress, the developer joked that the project is gradually becoming “Need for Speed meets Google Maps.”

Despite the rapid development pace, Hop.Earth remains in its early stages. Players may still encounter bugs, including terrain failing to load correctly, vehicles not spawning, or characters becoming stuck during parachute sequences. The developer continues to release fixes and provide regular progress updates through X.
