Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Breaks Sales Records in Europe

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has shattered foldable smartphone sales records in Western Europe, selling over 250,000 units in just four weeks, according to Counterpoint Research’s Weekly Smartphone Tracker. This makes it the fastest-selling Galaxy Fold to date, surpassing competitors such as Google and Honor in the region.
Sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 nearly doubled compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and increased by more than 70% over the popular Z Fold 4, setting an all-time record for the series. Earlier reports from South Korea hinted at strong demand, but the latest numbers confirm that Samsung’s latest foldable is pushing the form factor firmly into the mainstream.
Jan Stryjak, Senior Manager at Counterpoint Research, highlighted that the Z Fold 7 represents a breakthrough moment. After years of refinement, Samsung has closed the gap with rivals, turning foldables into a staple in Western European markets. Despite stiff competition from Honor and Google, who launched notable models in August, Samsung’s new foldable has taken the lead.

Key factors behind the success include significant upgrades such as Samsung’s thinnest and lightest foldable design to date, an improved main camera, and advanced Galaxy AI features. These improvements attracted hesitant buyers who were previously unconvinced by foldables, driving strong sales even at a premium price point.
Industry experts note that the success is not surprising. By addressing weaknesses from earlier models like bulkiness and underwhelming cameras, the Z Fold 7 has emerged as a more compelling option than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Honor Magic V5. This has elevated the perception of foldables in Western markets and positioned Samsung as the dominant player.
Looking ahead, analysts expect Samsung to maintain its leadership if it continues this pace of innovation. Counterpoint projects that the foldable smartphone market in Europe will expand significantly in the coming years.
