Nothing Phone (1) Ends Updates, Special Upgrade Offer to Phone (3)

Nothing Phone (1) Ends Updates, Special Upgrade Offer to Phone (3)
Nothing has officially announced the end of major operating system updates for its first smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1), marking the conclusion of the promised three-year support cycle. While the device will no longer receive new versions of Nothing OS or Android, the company will continue to provide security patches until 2026 to ensure ongoing protection for users.
CEO Carl Pei acknowledged this was a difficult moment, but emphasized the company’s gratitude to its earliest supporters. To show appreciation, Nothing has launched an upgrade program for Phone (1) and Phone (2) users, offering a $300 discount in the US and £300 in the UK when upgrading to the newly launched Phone (3). Eligibility is verified through the device’s IMEI number, and the offer is valid until October 3, 2025.
For those who have already purchased the Phone (3), the company is providing credits toward future Nothing products through customer support. This move reflects Nothing’s effort to reward its loyal users while encouraging adoption of its latest hardware, which introduces new features such as the Essential Key and enhanced AI-driven experiences.
Compared to competitors like Google, which provides up to seven years of updates, Nothing’s three-year cycle highlights a different strategy. The company has chosen to focus its resources on developing new platforms and transitioning users to updated devices rather than extending software support indefinitely.
By closing the chapter on Phone (1) with a firm three-year commitment and offering an upgrade incentive, Nothing demonstrates both transparency and appreciation for its early customer base while steering its growth toward the future.
