Aoostar Launch of the EG01 Thunderbolt 5 Dock eGPU

Aoostar, a manufacturer of Mini-PCs and eGPUs, announced the launch of the all-new EG01 eGPU Dock, which supports Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink, making it one of the first to combine these two connectivity standards. The company posted the announcement via Reddit, but it has not revealed pricing or release date.

The EG01 is clearly different from Aoostar’s predecessor eGPU Dock. It supports full-size PC graphics cards. It does not have a built-in PSU, but it does have mounting slots for both ATX and SFX aftermarket PSUs, which gives users the flexibility to choose their preferred PSU and upgrade it in the future. Aoostar’s older models use a 400-800W built-in PSU, which limits GPU power to up to 250-350W, making it ideal only for mid-range cards from AMD or Nvidia.

With the EG01, users can create a power-hungry GPU setup as needed today, and easily upgrade the PSU if they need a more power-hungry GPU later. This feature caters to those who want to expand their system without being restricted by the built-in PSU, making the EG01 a flexible option for long-term upgrades.

The EG01 works with all types of Thunderbolt or OCuLink-compatible devices, but it’s designed with Mini-PCs in mind. The PSU rack has an additional Mini-PC mount on top, making this model a Mini-ITX PC-like computer that’s ideal for those who use it on a daily basis with a Mini-PC or NUC.

The addition of this Mini-PC mount will be a highly popular feature. Especially for those who want a compact yet powerful system, the EG01 is not just a simple eGPU Dock, but a solution that combines multiple pieces of hardware. Ease of assembly and use
