Fans Say Jin’s Hot Spring Scene Still the Best in Ghost of Tsushima Series Despite Atsu’s Arrival in Ghost of Yōtei

Fans Agree: Jin’s Iconic Hot Spring Scene Still Reigns Supreme in Ghost of Tsushima Series

Even though Ghost of Yōtei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, has introduced its own hot spring scenes featuring new protagonist Atsu, fans are unanimously declaring that nothing can surpass the legendary “Jin moment” from the original game.

The Legacy of Jin’s Hot Spring Scene Lives On

Shortly after the release of Ghost of Yōtei, conversations in the gaming community exploded not about combat or story, but about a familiar detail: the return of the hot spring bathing sequence. Despite the protagonist changing from Jin Sakai to the female mercenary Atsu, players continue to joke that “no one dethrones Jin’s butt.”

Sucker Punch maintained the same simple, narrative-driven approach when designing the new hot spring scenes. When players guide Atsu to a hot spring, the game shows her stepping into the warm water and emerging from it without any exaggerated or sexualized framing. The moment retains its original purpose a time for the character to reflect on memories, just as Jin did in the first game.

Fans appreciated this decision, with many noting that it felt natural and respectful. One Reddit comment read, “I’m glad they didn’t treat the female character differently,” while another added, “It’s subtle and not overdone.” The community praised the studio’s ability to balance sensitivity and continuity.

Still, the lighthearted debate among players continues: who has the better hot spring scene. Jin or Atsu? While some fans admitted that “Atsu’s looks good too,” the majority still sided with the original samurai, with the now-iconic quote, “Jin ass better,” circulating widely.

Atsu’s Story Expands the Saga

Announced in 2024, Ghost of Yōtei is set 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima and tells a standalone story in northern Japan during the 1600s. Players follow Atsu, a lone mercenary on a quest for revenge against those who murdered her family, exploring a beautifully crafted open world that blends rich narrative depth with cinematic detail.
