CAPCOM Reveals Why Resident Evil VII, Village, and Requiem Are Coming to Switch 2 as a Trilogy

CAPCOM Explains Why Resident Evil Is Launching as a Full Trilogy on Nintendo Switch 2

It’s only a few months away before the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem hits the shelves, and the buzz from Tokyo Game Show 2025 proves that expectations are sky-high. What’s surprising fans even more is how impressively the game runs on the Nintendo Switch 2 — delivering a smooth 60FPS next-gen horror experience on a portable device.

But Requiem isn’t coming alone. CAPCOM has confirmed that the new title will launch alongside Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil Village, creating a complete three-game package for the next-generation Switch. Although the highly acclaimed remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 are still missing, this trio represents the modern era of the franchise — and now we finally know why CAPCOM made this decision.

Why Three Titles Are Coming to Switch 2
According to producer Masato Kumazawa, the reason behind the bundled release is simple: Resident Evil VII marked the beginning of a new narrative era for the series, and pairing it with Village and Requiem allows players to experience the full arc from start to finish on one platform. “It’s the perfect opportunity for new players to begin their journey right from the beginning,” he explained.

For those who haven’t yet explored this modern horror trilogy, February will be the perfect time to dive in.

A Leap Beyond the Cloud Versions
Fans may recall that Resident Evil 2, 3, VII, and Village were previously available on the original Nintendo Switch as Cloud Editions. This time, however, all three titles are launching as fully native versions — running directly on the hardware without streaming. The result is improved performance, higher stability, and a chance for CAPCOM to showcase just how powerful the Switch 2 truly is. With this leap, many are now speculating whether the acclaimed remake titles will follow suit in the future.

About Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem continues the iconic survival horror saga, introducing Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of journalist Alyssa — a survivor of the original T-Virus outbreak in 1998. After Alyssa’s mysterious murder, Grace must return to a nightmarish location tied deeply to her past, uncovering secrets that may connect to the forgotten history of the city itself.

Launching February 27, 2026, Resident Evil Requiem will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Built on the enhanced RE Engine, the game promises more intense storytelling, lifelike visuals, and immersive horror than ever before, cementing itself as the official ninth mainline installment in the legendary series.
