Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Announced for PS5, Xbox, Switch & PC
At NYCC 2025, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game was unveiled a fast-paced 1v1 fighter built on elemental mastery and movement fluidity. It’s set to arrive in Summer 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PS4, and PC.
The game features hand-drawn 2D animation that captures the expressive style of the franchise. At launch, there will be 12 playable characters, with more to be introduced via seasonal updates. Players choose support characters that affect fighting style and unlock special moves.
A core mechanic called the Flow System emphasizes movement-based gameplay, encouraging dynamic spacing and mobility. Other features include a single-player campaign with an original storyline, combo trials, a gallery mode, and best-in-class netcode with cross-play across platforms.
Playable names shown in the trailer include Aang, Zuko, Korra, Toph, Katara, Sokka, Azula, and others. There’s special emphasis on elemental abilities — bending styles and the Avatar State play into combat mechanics. The support system adds tactical depth since some characters may only appear in support roles initially.
This announcement revives earlier reports of an Avatar fighting game that had been rumored canceled. Under this new direction, the game appears to carry forward elements from the canceled version but with renewed development under Gameplay Group International.
