EA’s upcoming title, Battlefield 6, set to release on October 10, 2025, has made a notable decision to exclude ray tracing from its launch. This move aims to deliver a smoother and more accessible gaming experience across various platforms in Southeast Asia.

Christian Buhl, the Technical Director at Ripple Effect Studios, explained that the decision to omit ray tracing was made early in development. The primary goal was to ensure the game runs efficiently on a broad range of hardware, including lower-spec systems. Buhl emphasized that the focus was on optimizing performance for default settings, ensuring a consistent experience for all players.

While ray tracing enhances visual elements like reflections and shadows, its absence in Battlefield 6 does not detract from the game’s aesthetics. The developers have implemented over 600 graphical and accessibility settings, allowing players to tailor the game’s performance to their hardware capabilities. This customization ensures that both high-end and modest systems can enjoy a stable 60fps gameplay experience.

On consoles, particularly the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Battlefield 6 delivers impressive visuals and stable frame rates. The decision to exclude ray tracing contributes to the game’s smooth performance, even during intense combat scenarios.
