CAPCOM Confirms Porting Resident Evil Requiem to Switch 2 Was Surprisingly Easy

At Tokyo Game Show 2025, Resident Evil Requiem finally made its public debut on Nintendo Switch 2, earning widespread praise as players witnessed the small yet powerful hybrid console run the game at 60 FPS with impressive visual quality.

In a recent interview with Video Games Chronicle, director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa revealed that bringing Requiem to Switch 2 was far from difficult. They explained that the game was designed from the beginning with flexibility in mind, allowing it to be scaled and optimized easily for different platforms rather than requiring a separate, complex porting process. According to them, the development was more of a parallel process than a traditional port, and they were pleasantly surprised by how strong the results turned out.

The foundation for this smooth transition came from previous RE Engine projects like Resident Evil Village and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, both of which ran successfully on Nintendo hardware. Their success paved the way for Requiem to arrive quickly and efficiently on Switch 2.
