Death by Scrolling Hits Switch — Vertical Roguelike Arrives
Action lovers get ready for Death by Scrolling, a vertical scrolling-style roguelike RPG. Produced by Ron Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox NZ studio and published by MicroProse Software, it has been announced for official release on PC (via Steam) on October 28. Console platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch will follow later.

General information
Death by Scrolling is a vertically scrolling roguelike RPG that combines the challenge of a dead-and-start game with the madness of the afterlife. Players will have to fight against a horde of bizarre monsters as the scene slowly moves up in a non-stop way. If you let the fire of hell from below touch you at any time, the game will be over immediately.
Death is not an enemy you can kill. But it’s all you have to “escape” every second. The Reaper will always be chasing you. Every decision is filled with pressure, whether it’s fighting, collecting items, or buying items from merchants while running to the top. The game also features a side quest system and an “afterlife” style hilarity that adds color to this brutal adventure.
Key Features
Variety of characters to choose from: Each one has different specific skills and abilities. You can choose your own style of play.
Brutal vertical scrolling: The scene will move up continuously. There is no time to rest. If swallowed by fire from the abyss below, the game is over immediately.
Grim Reaper’s Chase: He will follow you every step of the way, dodge or disrupt you. But there is no way to kill them.
Gold Collection and Upgrade System: Collect gold coins and gems to unlock boosts. Shop from merchants, or upgrade your skills to become stronger.
