How to Enable 60FPS in Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Switch 2

Since the original Nintendo Switch launched, Nintendo has steadily strengthened partnerships with Western publishers. Among them, Bethesda stands out as a consistent supporter. As a result, major titles continue to arrive on newer hardware, including the more powerful Nintendo Switch 2.
Naturally, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remains part of that lineup. The game has accompanied Nintendo platforms since the first Switch. Now, it finally receives a long-requested performance upgrade.

Update 1.2 Brings Performance and Responsiveness Improvements
Bethesda has officially released Update 1.2 for Skyrim on Nintendo Switch 2. Most importantly, the update enables 60FPS output on 60Hz displays, addressing one of the most common complaints from players last year.
In addition, the update reduces input lag significantly. Players can now choose between two graphics presets. Prioritize Visuals focuses on image quality, while Prioritize Performance targets smoother frame rates. Alongside these changes, Bethesda also fixed multiple balance issues and visual bugs.
As a result, the overall experience now feels much closer to other current-generation console versions.
Anniversary Edition Is Required for 60FPS
However, not every version benefits from this upgrade. Only the Anniversary Edition supports the new 60FPS mode on Nintendo Switch 2.
Skyrim Anniversary Edition bundles the three major DLC expansions: Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire. It also includes additional Creation Club content curated by the community.
Players who previously purchased the Special Edition on the original Nintendo Switch can still play the game on Switch 2. However, that version remains capped at 30FPS.

How Existing Players Can Upgrade
To access the full next-generation features on Nintendo Switch 2, existing owners must purchase the Anniversary Edition Upgrade. After upgrading, players also need to install Update 1.2 to unlock 60FPS support.
Once completed, Skyrim delivers a smoother and more responsive experience on Nintendo’s latest hardware.
