PUBG: Blindspot Shuts Down After 2 Months

Krafton Abruptly Shuts Down PUBG: Blindspot Just Two Months After Launch

It is a shocking moment for the gaming community as Krafton, the South Korean gaming giant, has officially announced the abrupt termination of PUBG: Blindspot. The top-down tactical shooter spin-off was only recently released in Early Access on February 5, 2026. The game’s servers were officially and permanently closed yesterday, Monday, March 30, 2026, at 16:00 THA.

Failing to Meet Quality Standards

Sequoia Yang from Arc Team, the affiliated development studio behind the spin-off, openly admitted the reasons behind the sudden closure. Despite the development team’s dedicated efforts to improve the game following its most recent update, they ultimately concluded that the project could not maintain the high-quality standards they had originally targeted.

Yang further explained, “We hold the player’s experience as our core priority, and guided by this principle, we had to make the difficult decision to terminate the service.”

Player Criticism and Identity Crisis

Even before the shutdown announcement, international gaming media outlets like Eurogamer had heavily criticized PUBG: Blindspot as a bizarre outlier. Despite carrying the iconic PUBG name and logo, the 5v5 base-assault gameplay felt entirely disconnected from the battle royale roots that fans know and love.

Many players and critics pointed out that the core mechanics felt far more heavily inspired by Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege rather than anything related to the PUBG universe. This massive identity crisis is widely considered one of the primary reasons the game failed to build a sustainable player base; it essentially pasted the recognizable PUBG brand onto a completely different style of game, alienating its target audience.

What is Next for Krafton?

Following the sudden closure of this project, the Arc Team developers will take time to regroup and restructure. Meanwhile, Krafton is actively shifting its primary focus and resources toward its upcoming massive AAA project, “Project Windless.” This highly anticipated high-fantasy game is based on the famous Korean novel The Bird That Drinks Tears and is being spearheaded by Patrik Méthé, a former game director for the Far Cry series.

  • February 5, 2026: Official Early Access launch.
  • Late March 2026: Official termination announcement (after approximately 53 days of service).
