Thai Manga “RKGK Buffalo love, buffalo hugs” Wins Bronze Award in Japan

The Thai manga scene has another proud moment on the international stage as “RKGK Buffalo love, buffalo hugs”, a manga created by a Thai artist, has won a prestigious award in Japan. This achievement marks an important milestone, proving that Thai creative works can stand shoulder to shoulder with global talent.

RKGK Buffalo love, buffalo hugs Wins International Recognition

Pichet Wattanawessakorn, the creator of RKGK Buffalo love, buffalo hugs (RKGK), shared the good news through his personal Facebook page, revealing that his manga received a Bronze Award at the 19th Japan International MANGA Award (第19回日本国際漫画賞). This renowned international competition saw 738 entries from 110 countries worldwide, highlighting the significance of the achievement.

What makes the moment even more special is Pichet’s statement that he was the only Thai artist to receive an award this year. He also humorously admitted that he never expected a manga with a comedic, absurd, and highly distinctive style like RKGK to win such an honorable award—especially considering that past recipients are often artists with exceptional technical mastery.

Pichet added that the Bronze Award serves as a tremendous source of motivation for him to continue creating manga. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to readers who have followed, commented on, and supported his work over the years, emphasizing that without their encouragement, RKGK Buffalo love, buffalo hugs would not have reached international recognition.
