War of the Visions Shutting Down in Japan

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius Announces Japanese Server Closure, Marking the End of the Series
Many RPG fans have had the opportunity to experience the Final Fantasy spin-off universe through the Brave Exvius series, which successfully expanded into the highly popular tactical RPG, War of the Visions. However, all good things must eventually come to an end. Following the closure of the game’s global servers last year, the Japanese version was the only one left standing—but its time is now drawing to a close.
Square Enix has officially confirmed that War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will shut down its Japanese servers on May 28, 2026. This closure carries a heavy weight, as it officially marks the final chapter and the permanent end of the entire Brave Exvius series.
Moving forward, fans will only be able to follow the conclusion of the story through officially released video compilations and a published lore book. In the meantime, the game will continue to provide regular content and events until the final shutdown date.
A Heartfelt Message from the Developers
The development team shared a touching message, reflecting on the game’s journey since its initial launch in 2019. They expressed deep gratitude for the continuous support over the past six years, noting that the players’ cheers, daily logins, and fan art never went unnoticed.
Because the series boasts such a dedicated fanbase, the team originally planned to develop a standalone “Offline Version” of the game so players could preserve their memories. Unfortunately, due to various technical limitations and constraints, they ultimately had to scrap the idea. To make up for this, they are fully committing to delivering the best possible narrative conclusion through the upcoming videos and books.
About War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
For those unfamiliar, the game is a free-to-play Tactical RPG set in the same universe as the original Brave Exvius. The storyline serves as a prequel, exploring an era dominated by a massive war between five rival nations. Each faction utilizes the power of crystals to summon legendary warriors from different eras to fight on the battlefield. The global version of the game previously operated from 2020 until its closure in 2025.
