Get Ready to Set Sail with the New Update: Path of Exile 2 – The Third Edict Launching August 29!

On August 29, Path of Exile 2 will release its latest major update, The Third Edict.

Overview
On August 29, Path of Exile 2 will release its latest major update, The Third Edict. This update introduces Act 4 and the Interlude story content, replacing the Cruel difficulty mode. It also includes a complete overhaul of several game systems, significant character balance changes, and revamped Support Gems, offering both new and returning players an enriched experience.

What’s New in The Third Edict?

  • Explore the Ngamakanui Islands
Venture through the Karui territories and the Ngamakanui tribe’s lands to find fragments of the Third Edict. Your mission: to slay ‘The Beast’ in this thrilling new chapter. Discover over 100 new monsters, 16 new zones, and 12 new bosses.
  • Three New Mini Acts: The Interludes
The Cruel difficulty is replaced by three Interlude phases, adding 19 new areas and 9 bosses to bridge the story and the endgame smoothly:
    • Interlude I: Return to Ogham to help Renly restore the village and fight off dark forces.
    • Interlude II: Cross Vastiri’s deserts to aid Asala in a sacred oath and uncover the troublemakers behind a ritual.
    • Interlude III: Climb snowy mountains to find the lost heir of the Vaal and reveal hidden treasure secrets.
  • New League Mechanic: Rise of the Abyssal
Face off against dangerous Abyssal monsters guarding rifts. Defeat them to unlock Abyssal Troves filled with valuable rewards. This League introduces new crafting options, three new bosses, and a new Endgame Pinnacle Boss.
  • Support Gem Overhaul
The one Support Gem per skill type limit is removed, allowing for more varied builds. Support Gems now have their own leveling system, enabling upgrades during the campaign.
  • Lineage Support System
Powerful Lineage Support items drop from bosses only, offering rare upgrades and new ways to customize your skills in the endgame. There are 40 new Lineage Support types to discover.
  • Sprint Mechanic Added
All classes can now sprint by holding the dodge roll button, making movement between encounters faster. Beware, though—getting hit while sprinting can cause your character to stumble.
  • Balance and Crafting Revamp
Each class and Ascendancy has received significant balance changes, including new Notables and skills. Crafting has been enhanced with better resource items and new mechanics that allow for more powerful gear customization.
  • New Unique Items and Base Types
Discover new Unique items, some exclusive to the Abyss League, along with new Karui culture-inspired base types arriving with Act 4.
  • Expanded Endgame Content
Act 4 and the Interludes add 25 new endgame maps filled with unique monsters and bosses, including Uber versions of bosses that drop powerful Lineage Support Gems to boost your builds further.
  • Asynchronous Trade System
Long-requested asynchronous trading arrives, allowing players to buy items without requiring the seller to be online immediately.
