Konami has officially confirmed that METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 2 will launch on August 27, 2026, with pre-orders now open in both physical and digital formats. The announcement follows its high-profile reveal during Sony Interactiveโs State of Play showcase, instantly reigniting excitement among long-time fans of the stealth action franchise.
This second entry in the Master Collection series continues directly from where Vol. 1 left off in 2023, expanding the saga of Solid Snake and Big Boss with two of the most important chapters in the series. The collection is headlined by Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which is being released on platforms outside its original hardware for the first time since 2008. Alongside it comes Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, presented in its HD Collection form and featuring online multiplayer support for up to six players, though without crossplay.

As a bonus for fans who enjoy digging deeper into the franchiseโs history, the collection also includes Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, a cult-favorite spin-off that originally launched on handheld systems. This digital-only extra adds even more value for players who want to experience lesser-known corners of the Metal Gear universe.

Beyond the games themselves, Master Collection Vol. 2 is packed with premium digital extras designed for lore enthusiasts. These include detailed Screenplay Books containing in-game dialogue and text, Master Books that break down characters and storylines, a comprehensive in-game Database exclusive to Metal Gear Solid 4, and Metal Gear Solid: Digital Soundtrack Vol. 2, allowing fans to revisit the seriesโ iconic music anytime.
Players who pre-order will receive special in-game uniforms, including the โCardboard Camouflageโ outfit for Metal Gear Solid 4 and the โLove Cardboardโ uniform for Peace Walker. Additionally, those with save data from Master Collection Vol. 1 will unlock extra bonus items in both main games, rewarding long-time supporters of the collection initiative.
For newcomers or completionists, Konami is also offering digital standalone purchases of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker, making it possible to pick up individual titles without committing to the full bundle. On PC, an exclusive Steam bundle is available that combines Master Collection Vol. 1 with Metal Gear Solid ฮ: Snake Eater, creating a convenient entry point into the legendary stealth action saga.
With its August release date locked in and pre-orders already live, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is shaping up to be a major moment for both returning fans and a new generation discovering the series for the first time. Few franchises have left a mark on game design and storytelling quite like Metal Gear, and this collection ensures its legacy remains playable on modern platforms.
