Teamfight Tactics Set 17 Mechanics and Champions

Awaken Cosmic Power in Teamfight Tactics: Space Gods! Set 17 Arrives April 15

Bangkok, March 30, 2026 – Prepare to enter the vast cosmic expanse of the Convergence! Players must vie for the unpredictable favor of supreme deities in Teamfight Tactics: Space Gods, the highly anticipated Set 17 of Teamfight Tactics (TFT). As the premier auto-battler strategy game on PC and mobile, the TFT development team consistently delivers fresh experiences with three massive set updates every year. Space Gods proudly kicks off the 2026 roadmap as the first major release of the year.

Space Gods invites players to explore the final frontier, a realm packed with almighty deities actively seeking worthy champions to bestow with infinite cosmic power. Prove your worth and impress these powerful entities when the massive free update hits the PBE test servers on Tuesday, March 31, followed by a full global launch across all PC and mobile platforms on Wednesday, April 15.

In the recently released TFT Dev Drop video, Riot Games showcased the wildly imaginative gameplay of Space Gods. The set features charismatic deities, brand-new champions, never-before-seen traits, and dazzling cosmetics. Crucially, the update introduces a revolutionary new core mechanic called the Realm of the Gods, which entirely replaces the traditional TFT shared carousel with a celestial market featuring actual, in-game deities. Space Gods promises a refreshing blend of sci-fi and fantasy that will captivate both veteran strategists and newcomers alike.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming set:

Returning and Exclusive Champions

Space Gods introduces a massive roster of cosmic champions eager to fight at the edge of the final frontier!

  • Fan Favorites Return: Highly requested champions like Master Yi, Pyke, and Maokai make their grand return to the Convergence.
  • New 5-Cost Heavyweights: Fiora, Shen, Vex, Graves, and Blitzcrank step into the arena as powerful 5-cost champions for the very first time, joining the ranks of Morgana, Sona, Jhin, Zed, and Bard.
  • TFT Exclusive Skins: LeBlanc arrives sporting a brand-new, TFT-exclusive skin based on a recently released League of Legends skinline.

Brand-New Core Summon Units

Space Gods debuts entirely new summonable units, including the mysterious mother-daughter duo Bia and Bayin, as well as the Primordian Swarmling, directly inspired by the wildly popular Swarm game mode in League of Legends.

Innovative New Traits and Origins

Space Gods challenges players to think creatively with a slew of highly innovative traits:

  • Meeple: A trait entirely dedicated to Meeps! Meeple champions are space travelers accompanied by loyal Meeps that actively join the battle and enhance their abilities. The more Meeples you field and star up, the more Meeps appear. One Meep is so powerful she has been elevated to a standalone, TFT-exclusive 2-cost tank champion named Meepsie!
  • Anima: The high-risk, high-reward economic trait of the set. You gain resources both when you lose and when you eliminate enemies. At 100 resources, you forge a new Anima weapon prototype. You can equip it immediately or save your resources to craft an even stronger weapon later. While any champion can equip an Anima weapon, specific Anima units utilize them best.
  • Dark Star: These immensely powerful units generate a massive black hole on the side of the board that instantly devours low-health enemies. As you hit higher trait breakpoints, your strongest Dark Star unit will grow to a gigantic size and gain massive bonus stats.
  • Stargazer: This unique trait reveals a different constellation every single game, illuminating specific hexes on your board that grant powerful buffs to allies placed on them. Leveling up reveals even more hexes. There are 7 distinct constellations, each offering unique effects. Furthermore, the Stargazer unit Lulu actually alters her spell entirely based on the active constellation!
  • Factory New: The exclusive 5-cost champion, Graves, utilizes this unique trait. Every few rounds, players are presented with a choice to permanently upgrade him. Whether you need an unkillable tank or a devastating damage carry, Factory New allows you to mold Graves to perfectly fit your team composition!
  • Mecha: This trait requires fielding three specific units that physically combine into a singular, supreme ultimate form. This massive mech takes up two team slots but gains massive bonus stats, enhanced abilities, and adds +1 to the trait count.
  • Fateweaver: Fateweavers strike with cosmic precision, meaning their abilities can critically strike right from the start! The more Fateweavers you play, the “luckier” you get, granting each unit a high chance to cast an upgraded, significantly stronger version of their spell.

The Cosmic Deities

Some of TFT’s most iconic champions have been elevated to the status of ruling Deities:

  • Soraka, God of Stars
  • Yasuo, God of the Deep
  • Ahri, God of Wealth
  • Thresh, God of Covenants
  • Kayle, God of Order
  • Varus, God of Love
  • Evelynn, God of Desire
  • Ekko, God of Time
  • Aurelion Sol, God of Wonder

New Set Mechanic: Realm of the Gods

The “Realm of the Gods” is a celestial market where deities offer direct blessings to the players. This completely replaces the traditional shared carousel mechanic for this set.

  • At the start of the game, two Deities are randomly selected, and players are transported to the Realm to receive initial rewards.
  • During the mid-point of each stage, players return to the Realm to choose between offers presented by the two Deities.
  • If you select blessings from the same Deity at least twice during Stages 2, 3, and 4, you pledge your loyalty to them. In Stage 4-7, your chosen Deity will reward you with a massive, unique ultimate blessing!

Augments and Cosmetics

Space Gods introduces approximately 40 brand-new Augments, including 8 powerful Hero Augments that completely alter a champion’s playstyle. One standout Hero Augment grants the 5-cost champion Zed the ability to infinitely spawn clones of himself!

Cosmetic Highlights:

  • Chibi Champions: Battle Bat Xayah, Star Guardian Syndra, Prestige Star Nemesis Morgana.
  • Unbound Tacticians: Chosen of the Wolf Katarina, Dark Star Mordekaiser.
  • Arena Skin: Star Nemesis Arena.
  • Portal Skin: Sharing Is Caring.

“Space Gods is a true blend of sci-fi and fantasy, and it stands as one of the most collaborative projects our team has ever undertaken,” stated Noemi Coute, the Set Design Lead. “We wanted to take everything we’ve learned from previous sets to create a totally new experience. Replacing the carousel with the ‘Realm of the Gods’ allows players to directly interact with the deities in a way we’ve never done before.”

Teamfight Tactics: Space Gods is ready for players to enter the cosmic arena on April 15. Get ready to prove you are worthy of the power of the gods!
