The Elder Scrolls Online 2026 Content Update: Season Zero and Return to Skyrim

ZeniMax Online Studios has revealed exciting new updates for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) in 2026, starting with Season Zero: Dawn & Dusk, set to release on April 2, 2026. Each season of ESO lasts around 90 days, with its own unique theme, content, and rewards for players. The new content will be available to all players of ESO, free of charge.

Season Zero: Dawn & Dusk
Season Zero kicks off with a new event zone, The Night Market, set in the Oblivion dimension of Fargrave. This special zone will be available for seven weeks, where players can join one of three factions to conquer challenging PvE missions. Participants will receive the Night’s Den, a free home for their characters.

Additionally, Season Zero introduces a much-anticipated Challenge Difficulty system, allowing players to select from four difficulty levels for greater rewards. This update will roll out on June 8, 2026. Also included in this season are major PvP and combat improvements, including a new progression system for PvP called Veterancy PvP and the first-ever class refresh for the Dragonknight.

Season One: Thieves Guild and Sheogorath
As part of Season One this summer, ESO will introduce the Thieves Guild with a new storyline in the newly updated Glenumbra region. The guild’s return is a nod to the game’s early lore and will include a brand-new puzzle-solving area, Sage’s Vault. Players will also face the chaotic Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, who will bring new quests across Tamriel.

Further updates in 2026 will include the High Seas of Tamriel event with naval battles and underwater exploration, as well as Solo Dungeons featuring upgraded challenges. New content like the Crimson Veldt will introduce a fresh trial, marking the first major trial added to ESO since its original release in 2014.
