Everstone Studio has officially announced that its acclaimed open-world Wuxia ARPG, Where Winds Meet, will launch its next massive content update on April 2, 2026 (UTC). Titled “Liangzhou,” this update serves as the second chapter of the ambitious three-part Hexi Expansion. Following the desert sands of Jade Gate Pass, players will now transition into a starkly different landscape of snow-capped peaks and fortified border towns.
A New Frontier: The Snowy Peaks of Liangzhou
Liangzhou offers a sharp contrast to the previous chapter’s vast deserts. The region blends romantic Eastern poetic imagery with the gritty reality of a frontier fortress. Beyond the visual shift, the developers teased a “mysterious new phase” for the region. Triggered by a pivotal story event, this transformation promises to fundamentally alter exploration and combat, offering an experience previously unseen in the Jianghu.
The narrative expands through two primary threads:
- Liangzhou Melody: A young musician’s quest to find a forgotten home.
- Paper Moon: A dramatic tale of conflict within a Buddhist hall that reshapes the destinies of two individuals.
New Martial Arts: The Raging Tides Sect and Heng Blade
This expansion introduces significant depth to the game’s combat system with the arrival of a new sect and a highly anticipated weapon type.
- New Sect – Raging Tides: Born from military tradition, this sect balances iron-clad battlefield discipline with a free-spirited daily life fueled by a love for wine.
- New Weapon – Heng Blade: A pinnacle of Tang Dynasty craftsmanship. The Heng Blade focuses on a “deflect-and-counter” mechanism, offering an agile and proactive combat style.
- Legendary Choreography: The animations for the Heng Blade were designed by Stephen Tung Wai, a seven-time Hong Kong Film Award winner. His work on films like Hard Boiled and Reign of Assassins ensures a cinematic and authentic Wuxia feel.
Formidable Challenges and World Bosses
Adventure in the snowy wilds is fraught with danger. The update introduces the “Death of Governor” campaign, where players must navigate lethal traps to uncover a hidden truth. Furthermore, massive new challenges await in the form of unique bosses:
- Town Gate Roar: A colossal guardian beast encountered during the siege of Dasan Pass.
- Moongazing Maiden: A gracefully tragic figure stalking the wilderness.
- Everdeer & Pocketrupt Circus: Bizarre and fiercely auspicious entities that ensure the Liangzhou frontier remains unpredictable.
