Xbox ROG Ally Update Boosts Portable Gaming with AI

With Default Game Profiles, AI, and major performance improvements.

Xbox, along with Windows and ASUS, announced a major update to the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. To provide a smoother and smarter mobile gaming experience.

Default Game Profiles (Preview) Play smoother without having to set it manually.

The new Default Game Profiles feature automatically balances frame rate (FPS) and power, supporting over 40 games in the early stages, such as Fortnite, Gears of War: Reloaded, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, among many others. This new feature can help increase battery life for some games by almost an hour, while maintaining frame rates up to 120 FPS.

Upgrade system-wide performance, faster, more stable, and more responsive.

This update comes with several improvements, including:

  • Gamepad responsiveness after login has improved.
  • Load Game Library faster, especially for players with a large number of games.
  • Cloud Gaming is smoother than ever
  • Added a “Performance Fit” filter to let players know if the game is suitable for the device.
  • Bug fixes and overall stability improvements

In addition, the Full Screen Experience feature, designed for mobile devices, is available on Windows 11 handhelds and is expanding to desktops, laptops, and tablets for Xbox and Windows Insiders.

New features coming soon include AI-powered Auto SR and Game Save Sync Indicators.

  • Next week: Game Save Sync Indicators are introduced, allowing players to see the sync save status in real-time.
  • Early next year: ROG Xbox Ally X users will be able to use AI-powered Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) and AI highlight reels to easily capture highlight moments in the game.
