Samsung unveils ISOCELL HP5 – a groundbreaking 200MP smartphone camera sensor

Samsung Unveils ISOCELL HP5 A Groundbreaking 200MP Camera Sensor for Premium Smartphones
Samsung has officially announced the ISOCELL HP5, a 200-megapixel smartphone image sensor designed to push mobile photography to new heights. Featuring the world’s smallest 0.5μm pixel size and a 1/1.56-inch sensor, the HP5 promises a perfect balance between ultra-high resolution and exceptional light performance in compact devices.
At the heart of this innovation lies advanced light-capturing technology. Samsung employs Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) and Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) to enhance light absorption and minimize signal interference, ensuring clear, bright, and detailed images even in low-light conditions. This design addresses one of the biggest challenges in high-resolution sensors—noise control without heavy post-processing.

The company also introduced DTI Center Cut (DCC), allowing each pixel to capture light more effectively for enhanced depth and realism. This combination of precision engineering and optical refinement showcases Samsung’s commitment to merging high resolution with natural image quality for professional-grade results.
In terms of performance, the ISOCELL HP5 delivers a 150% boost in conversion gain and reduces random noise by 3–40%, depending on lighting conditions. It also supports Smart ISO Pro and staggered HDR, ensuring accurate exposure and improved dynamic range for more lifelike colors and clarity straight out of the camera.
For videographers, the sensor supports 8K at 30fps, 4K at 120fps, and Full HD at 240fps, alongside RAW image capture up to 14-bit. With 2x in-sensor zoom and up to 6x hybrid telephoto zoom, users can capture distant subjects with minimal loss in detail.
Now entering mass production, the ISOCELL HP5 is expected to debut in several next-generation smartphones next year, including the upcoming vivo Y500 Pro. This marks another major milestone for Samsung, redefining what smartphone cameras can achieve in clarity, detail, and light management.
